The 1st International Customs and Trade Congress took place between May 20–22. Academics from all over Turkey, along with associations and communities related to the sector, participated in the event. The congress focused on discussing the effects of the pandemic and post-pandemic developments on foreign trade.

The congress brought together prominent industry figures, companies, and academics to address the impacts of the pandemic on the logistics sector. As ENCO, we presented our study titled “Turkey’s 2020 Logistics Performance Index Forecast: The ENCO Logistics Example” in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurdan Kuşat, Head of the Foreign Trade Department at Isparta University of Applied Sciences.

In this study, we aimed to demonstrate how the pandemic affected Turkey’s logistics performance using the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) scale developed by the World Bank. We compared the World Bank’s most recent data, published in 2019, with our evaluations within ENCO. With the valuable contributions of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurdan Kuşat, we analyzed the differences in light of the pandemic, technological advancements, legislative changes, and improvements in Turkey’s logistics infrastructure. We also presented recommendations on the steps that could be taken to enhance Turkey’s logistics performance index.

Our study, which received significant attention especially from the academic community, will be featured in the congress proceedings to be published in the coming days.
