Austria, an important hub for logistics companies engaged in transportation to Europe, has revoked VAT refunds on fuel purchases. This change has led firms to seek alternative solutions. Among these alternatives are: accepting fines to continue purchasing fuel from Slovenia, shifting entirely to road transport instead of using the RO-RO route via the Port of Trieste (a road-sea combination), or opting for countries like Italy or Germany despite their higher fuel prices.
